Varly's Ice Cream and Pizza Parlor 907-472-2547 Summer months only

Anchorage 907-244-7391 (Margaret's cell) Good all year round.

"Home of the Left Handed Halibut" Featuring the freshest Halibut, Shrimp, and Pacific Cod of any coastal town in Alaska, straight from the icy waters of Prince William Sound.

Each order is hand-battered with our own secret recipe. Also enjoy homemade clam and seafood chowders and perhaps some homemade rhubarb crisp for dessert. We now feature homemade bread pudding and carrot cake as well.

Steeped in Alaskan maritime atmosphere, we are located at the end of the triangle in beautiful downtown Whittier, Alaska.

Manager, Taki Varlamos, supervises his mother, Margaret, getting the coffee ready for the busy day ahead.

We do not post our menu online.  We offer the BEST fried fish in Alaska! We have local halibut, cod and shrimp.  Additionally, we have 1/2 pound fresh meat cheeseburgers, chicken tenders, caesar salads, great homemade desserts (carrot cake, rhubarb crisp and bread pudding), fantastic homemeade clam and seafood chowders and more!  Our pricing is very reasonable when you consider the quality and the quantity of the food you get at the Swiftwater.

We also carry over 30 kinds of beer and several kinds of wine.  We have a large variety of soft drinks, homebrewed iced tea and juice.

Enjoy the harbor view from our deck and choose from over 30 imported, specialty and domestic beers and wines.

The Swiftwater uses only fresh seafood harvested locally. Since there are no lobster, crab or scallop fisheries in Prince William Sound you will have to pay the high prices of upscale Anchorage restaurants for those delicacies from other locals.

The 2006 Alask Aces Kelly Cup Champs in for a visit!

Corbin Schmidt, Patrick Weller, Justin Maiser and Alex Levitt of the 2006 Kelly Cup Champion Alaska Aces with Margaret, Niko, Taki and Don Varlamos on the deck of the Swiftwater in June 2006 just days after the Aces won the Kelly Cup.

The Aces barely missed getting a second Kelly Cup in 2009 taking it to a 7th game in the finals.  Once again in 2011, the Aces brought the trophy back to Alaska!   The Aces did us proud again by brining a third Kelly Cup to Alaska. Coach Murray brought the cup the Swiftwater for all to see in June 2014!

All Alaska Aces fans are saddened by the closing of the franchise after the 2016-2017 season, but the wonderful memories will never fade.  We fans will continue to love and support our local hockey talent whereever they may play and reside.

Thank you for the memories, guys.  You are forever in our hearts!  Skate on!

It was epic and the first of many in the years to come now that the kids are grown!
